‘LG Legends’ KS outlook “We’ll go to Game 6?”…Coaches react “We’ll go to Game 7”

“Maybe if it’s a championship game, I’ll feel a little different.”

Former LG Twins “legend” Park Yong-taek is fulfilling a longtime wish to watch his team’s Korean Series run, but not as a player, but as a commentator. LG hasn’t been to the Korean Series in 21 years, since 2002.

In 2002, Park Yong-taek’s rookie season, he made the leap to the starting lineup and helped the team reach the Korean Series, only to be swept by the Samsung Lions. After that, the team didn’t reach the Korean Series again until 2020, when Park hung up his jersey.

However, he is enjoying this year’s Korean Series more than anyone else. Park was the play-by-play announcer for Game 3 of the Korean Series against the KT Wiz at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on Tuesday. Park, who played for LG for 20 years and amassed 2504 career hits, was the heart of the team. He was a symbol for fans and an idol for younger players. “I remember the faces of the seniors who struggled with Yong-taek, Coach Lee (Byung-kyu), and others, but couldn’t win the championship,” said the senior LG players who played together.

Park Yong-taek, who met with the press before the third game, said, “This year in the Major League, the Texas Rangers won after 62 years, and in Japan, the Hanshin Tigers won after 38 years. I think it would be an interesting story if LG also won the title after 29 years.” He laughed. 토토사이트

Even though he talks about it like it’s no big deal, Park’s heart still responds to LG’s story. He has worn LG jerseys all his life. “On the contrary, LG fans are the ones who criticize the commentary the most,” he laughs.

How does he see the Korean Series going? “I was in charge of Game 3 and Game 6 of the Korean Series. When I greeted the LG coaches earlier, I said, ‘We might go to Game 6,’ and they said, ‘What’s Game 6 now, we’re going to Game 7,'” he chuckled.

LG took the microphone in Game 3 with Park Yong-taek, and after three home runs, back-and-forth battles, and a dramatic three-run homer by Oh Ji-hwan with two outs in the ninth inning, LG won 8-7 to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The championship was within reach.
